Vision & Values

Our vision is to be a people who are:

Rooted in the Word,
Moving in the Spirit,
Loving our city.

Key Priorities & Family Values

At Immanuel, we have a strong sense of family. As with any family unit, we believe that the following cultures or values are essential if the family (including each member of the family) is to thrive.

Whilst we recognise that all of us have different, sometimes painful experiences of family, we believe that the following 5 key priorities along with the associated values that underpin them are absolutely vital for us to embody and to live out as we ask the Holy Spirit to form and transform us more and more into the kind of family Jesus is inviting us to be.

1) Prayer & Worship

Value: Intimacy

At Immanuel, we want everything that we do to be underpinned by a lifestyle of prayer and worship. As followers of Jesus, our chief priority is to glorify God and to know him intimately. Whenever we pray and worship, we have the opportunity to deepen our dependency, trust, friendship, and intimacy with the Lord. Prayer and worship enable us to enjoy God’s presence, being confident that he longs to meet with us and to fill us with his joy and peace so that we might overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

2) Rising Generations: Kids, Youth & Students

Value: Nurture

We believe that children, young people and students are not just the Church of tomorrow but are the Church of today! At Immanuel, our heart is to grow younger and to see the next generation encouraged and emboldened in their love and knowledge of Jesus. We know that if the rising generations are to flourish and be equipped to follow Jesus, they need the wisdom, support and input of those who have gone before them. We are committed to always making room for kids, youth and students, and are determined to see them grow in faith, in community, and in confidence as they step into all that God has for them.

3) Discipleship

Value: Taking Responsibility

Immanuel is a battleship and not a cruise ship. Therefore, we must be those who are far more concerned with what we are giving rather than with what we are getting. Each and every person who knows and who loves Jesus has a unique assignment and call on their lives and all of us must take responsibility for our own discipleship as well as for the discipleship of others. Followers of Jesus must be those who pray, who read the Bible, who serve, and who give financially to the mission and ministry of God and of his Church as part of our worship. We long to be a church full of contributors rather than consumers.

4) Mission

Value: Moving Out

As in any family, the time comes for people to move out. At Immanuel, we are committed to being a missional people who look out and who move out to go and meet the needs of others with the love and good news of Jesus. Our desire is to be a sending church and a commissioned people who step out in the power of the Holy Spirit to reach those on the margins and to share faith with those who do not yet know Jesus.

5) Welcome & Hospitality

Value: Connection

At Immanuel, we believe that the kingdom of God is one of family, friendship, feasting and fun! As part of our welcome and hospitality, we are always looking for ways to connect people and to help others become further integrated into the life of our community. More often than not, our events will centre upon enjoying food together as we seek to make room at the table for all.

  • Connect and belong

Alpha is for people who are exploring faith together—curious, questioning, or unsure. Each session begins with time to relax, chat, and enjoy a meal together, with food usually provided for free.

  • Explore a topic

Alpha works by watching a short talk each week that introduces a big question about life or the Christian faith, designed to prompt and inspire honest and personal thought and discussion.

  • Join the conversation

The heart of Alpha is the discussion time where you can share your thoughts, ask questions, or simply listen—there’s no pressure to speak or to agree, just honest conversation and respect for every point of view.
